Ashlyn C. Walden is a Senior Lecturer in the Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies Department at UNC Charlotte, Editor of ROLE (Research in Online Literacy Education), and a first-year Ph.D. student in Clemson’s Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design Program. She teaches a combination of hybrid and online courses in composition, advanced writing/research, and information literacy. Research interests primarily include: accessibility, digital composition and design, participatory course design, and user-centered design. More recently, much of Ashlyn’s research has explored accessibility and work/life balance through the lens of navigating a global pandemic resulting in several publications in the Journal of Multimodal Rhetorics: “Be Flexible” a multimedia piece on caregiving in the time of Covid, and “Play–Not Necessity is the Mother of Invention: A Reflection on Accessibility Research.” Ashlyn also enjoys a good late-night gaming session of role-playing console games, that is, of course, when both her young children are in bed for the night.
